McBride Architects is a small architecture firm based in NYC that has been practicing for over 40 years specializing in client-focused, high-end residential projects in New York City and the Northeast.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager with 15+ years of expertise in residential architecture. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of managing a range of multiple small residential projects and complex, high-end residential projects, from concept through completion, in the New York City market and Northeast regions. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing project execution, directing and coordinating the project team and project consultants, managing client relationships, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional design and construction quality on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage residential architecture projects, ensuring they meet client expectations, budgets, and schedules.
- Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, including pre-design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, bidding, and construction administration.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, contractors, consultants, and clients to develop comprehensive project plans.
- Ensure compliance with all local zoning laws, building codes, and regulations, as well as sustainability and LEED standards.
- Provide regular status updates to principal, clients and stakeholders, addressing concerns and making necessary adjustments to project scope and schedule.
- Manage project teams, delegate tasks, and foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Track and manage project budgets, resources, and timelines, ensuring financial and operational goals are met.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges during the design and construction phases.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Ensure high standards of quality, design integrity, and safety throughout the project’s lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in residential architecture, with a strong focus on managing large-scale, luxury projects in New York City.
- Proven experience managing all aspects of a project, from design inception to construction completion.
- Extensive knowledge of NYC building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide multidisciplinary teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interface effectively with clients, contractors, and design teams.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project, etc.) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
- AutoCAD & Revit proficient, Rhiino & Sketch-up a plus.
- Licensed Architect (preferred, but not required).
- LEED accreditation or other sustainability certifications a plus.
