Call for Entries: Art by Architects 2025 Showcase

Art by Architects NYC was founded in 2018 to highlight the creative multimedia exploration of architects that is often hidden behind the daily efforts of creating the built environment as we know it. Register to be an artist in this year’s show!

Art by Architects has shown work from over 100 architects, professors and students of architecture, and interior designers from all over the New York metro area. It has brought together individuals from cross-disciplinary areas within the field of architecture and provided a place to celebrate each other’s creative processes outside of the office.

Beyond the opportunity to share creations in community, the show has raised funds for various causes. This year income from the sale of select artworks and reception tickets will benefit the Center for Architecture’s design education programming which nurtures an understanding and appreciation for architecture, inspiring the next generation of design leaders. The Center for Architecture’s Annual Education Fund plays a pivotal role in making this vision a reality by supporting K-12 programs, subsidized fees to partner schools, and scholarships. If you choose to sell your artwork, 30% of the sale will go towards the Annual Education Fund, and 70% directly to the artist.

The works submitted to the fifth-annual Art by Architects showcase will be shown at the Center for Architecture during opening hours from Friday, February 28 at 4:00 pm to Monday, March 3 at 5:00 pm. The Friday evening celebratory reception welcomes guests and artists for a time of sharing and networking. There will be a $20 entry fee to the reception in support of the Center for Architecture Annual Education Fund. Artists featured in the show and students with a valid student ID are free.

Schedule: 
Thursday, February 27:

  • 5–8 pm: Artists deliver artwork to the Center for Architecture at 536 LaGuardia Place

Friday, February 28:

  • 4 pm: Show opens to the public
  • 6–8 pm: Reception

Saturday, March 1:

  • 11 am–4 pm: Show open to the public

Monday, March 2:

  • 9 am–5 pm: Show open to the public
  • 6–8 pm: Artists pickup artwork / show clean-up

Artist submission fees:

  • Standard size, first piece – $40
  • Standard size, second or more piece – $25
  • Student entry fee, first piece – $10
  • Student entry fee, second or more piece – $25

Deadline for Artist Registration:

  • Artists must register by Monday, February 17 (two weeks in advance of installation)
  • Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration link will be closed once capacity is met.
  • Also, by Monday, February 17, a digital image of the work should be uploaded to the deposit folder that is indicated on your payment receipt. If you need assistance with upload, please contact membership@aiany.org for assistance.

Guidelines for entries: 

  • Standard Paintings/sculpture no larger than 30” x 40” will be mounted on a tabletop easel.
  • Must be appropriate content—subject to review by the committee.
  • Art requiring electric power: subject to availability of power.
